'Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.' Isaiah 63:1

Another Facet

Luke 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son on man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and the glory of his Father's and of the holy angels.

You know, part of his awsome glory is that he is THE Son of man of Daniel 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

When Jesus refers to himself in the gospels he always calls himself, 'the Son of man'.  That is so cool. With authority, he claims out of the Jew's writings the main nomenclature for the Messiah, for his title. And in Daniel we have official records of prophecy telling us that he 'came with the clouds of heaven'.

So, here we have another facet of his own glory: he is the Son of man coming with the clouds of heaven.

The word: Glory

Matthew 25:31 'When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:'

The word 'glory' is used twice in this verse.  The word, glory, is a 'high' word.  It is mysterious, especially when it is in reference to the Lord Jesus Christ.  It can't be used any 'higher' than that.  The fact that it is used twice in one verse proves glory exudes from him.  I think there are many facets of his glory that can be explored in diferent venues of his word, and the venue in this verse is his second coming. He is decending surrounded by glory.  How's that?  The timing of his decension: after he has judged the earth of unbelief (though his judgement will continue after his decent). The mode of his decension: on a horse in a manner the whole world will see.  The authority of his decension: that he has the power to break through from the heavenlies, and invade, if you will our realm, forcing his presence on all unbelievers and placing them in submission to his will.  He will also display his glory, as the holy angels will be with him.  People will actually see the angels with him.  Scripture tells us that, right now, he is sitting at the right hand of the Father on his throne, in glory. This verse in Matthew, says, when he decends he has a throne of glory here, also.  It sounds like he has at least two thrones.  Now that's glory indeed!

Will you?

1 John 27 But the anointing which ye have recieved of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

Will you have confidence when he appears?

Some Unearthly Facts

Philippians 3:20 'For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.'

The little word, 'For', at the beginning of verse twenty, points to some facts in these verses. First, if we are born again from on high and are reading this, we have vile bodies.  Now, I will use another small word to point to another fact: but, our conversation is in heaven.  Now, who could design such a paradox as that, and make it a fact?  Verse twenty tells us, our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven; from whence also we look for him. And now to continue with these unearthly facts, verse twenty-one says he will change our vile bodies and fashion it like unto his gloriour body.  And when and how, will he do this miracle? At his second coming when he will, SUBDUE ALL THINGS UNTO HIMSELF!

The 'Wait' of marching orders

1 Thessalonians 1: 9-10 For they themselves shew of us what manner on entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; 10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

Isn't it interesting how the Holy Spirit divides one verse to speak to two different groups of believers, like he does in verse nine? The first half of nine, Paul is refering to the Thessalonians specifically, whereas the second half he speaks to all believers throughout church history.  The Thessalonians did turn from idols to serve the living and true God, but so did I, and you, if you are born again.  That is one of sparkling facet of the jewel of our salvation; turning from a false reality of God--our idol, to the true and living God, through the Lord Jesus Christ.  And then in verse ten, we are given the same marching orders as that of the Thessalonians, 'to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.'
The wrath to come is the great white throne judgement, not the tribulation.  The Thessalonian believers will not recieve God's wrath and that of the Lamb, and neither will we.  That is another of the many sparkling facets of our salvation.

Confident sheep

Philippians 1:6 'Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.'

The Apostle Paul wants us to be confident.  There has to be a source which produces confidence.  For the sheep of Christ's fold the source is he, the Shepherd.  As we look to him and listen to his word in the Bible, we have confidence.  Let's not forget that our Shepherd is coming back to call us back into his fold from the four corners of the earth!

Lightning

Matthew 24:27 'For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even onto the west; so shall the coming of the Son of man be.'

Here we have the big picture.  We have lightning starting in the east: if you're standing facing north, you look to the right, and then, you have to look all the way to the left to see the strike finish. That's a big strike, and that's alot of turning of our heads.  That's big!  One time, the sky where I live had lightning strikes over the whole sky. No matter in what direction I looked, the sky had lightning in it. So when Jesus comes back, first we will be looking up, and I think our eyes will be very round and maybe some people will faint, and probably most people will say 'What does this mean?', and then there will be some people that will be clapping their hands and shouting 'It's Jesus! It's Jesus! He's coming! He's coming!'
